Applying Characteristic Mode Analysis to Systematically Design of 5G Logarithmic Spiral MIMO Patch Antenna

The Theory of Characteristic Modes (TCM) provides a natural and systematic approach for designing Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antennas with high efficiency uncorrelated antenna patterns. Recent progress in the growing field MIMO design, supported by TCM, is examined this study. challenge 5G wireless communications particular highlighted. results demonstrate that characteristic modes play key role establishing optimal positioning efficiency. Therefore, article, theory applied to novel design logarithmic spiral patch (LSPA) used obtain circular polarization good performance more easily than traditional shapes. process starts single element one arm passing through adding another element, also two-element array antenna, ending four configurations two-port selecting configuration best performance. proposed wide -10 dB measured impedance ranging from 27.3 GHz 30.2 covering whole frequency band allocated communication systems acceptable such as large bandwidth, gain, isolation, low envelope correlation coefficient, channel capacity loss. isolation achieved operating bandwidth better -36 dB, demonstrating mutual coupling. Moreover, peak gain total obtained are 9.9 dBi 94%, respectively over bandwidth. designed, analyzed, simulated 3D electromagnetic full-wave software Computer Simulation Technology (CST). fabricated using photo-lithographic method R&SZNA67 vector network analyzer. prototype extremely similar expected consequently proves offered characteristics mode analysis applicable.
